I am a journalist whose career has spanned Silicon Valley, Washington and Wall Street.

These days I cover financial crime as an editor at Bloomberg News. Before that I spent 11 years at The New York Times.

As an assistant Washington editor at The Times, I ran the bureau’s weekend report, helped lead national security coverage and wrote breaking news. As an assistant business editor, I organized the department’s weekend report and Monday media/technology section and helped lead coverage of Wall Street during and after the financial crisis of 2008. I started on the Business Day copy desk.

I wrote dozens of Times articles on technology subjects (see below) after spending more than a decade covering Internet technology for long-gone magazines like InternetWeek, CommunicationsWeek, Web Week and Network Computing. I got my start covering high school and college sports at Newsday on Long Island.

During my time in Washington, I also taught business reporting at George Washington University. Here is my résumé. Work samples are below.
